Voluntary case opened
A family may choose to accept services voluntarily if the Court does not need to be involved. A Social Worker will help create a case plan and provide services to keep the family together and safe.
A Social Worker will provide the family with short-term services that will last no more than six months. Participating in these services is voluntary. The family will be asked to sign a voluntary services case plan and follow through with the plan. The Social Worker will work closely with the family to offer a variety of service options.
The Social Worker may agree with the family to place the child temporarily with a relative or foster parent for up to six months, called Voluntary Family Reunification Services.
After the parent(s) successfully complete voluntary service activities, and make the improvements and changes described in the case plan, the DFCS case will be closed.
Allow the child to remain with the parents
Services and Support
We engage our diverse community to provide the best possible services and support to strengthen families and keep children and youth safe.
Out of home care
We partner with families to place children in out-of-home care only when their immediate safety is at risk. Every effort is made to place children with relative caregivers and return them safely home, as soon as possible.
