Making An Adoptive Plan for Your Child (Voluntary Relinquishment)

If you are pregnant, or are already a parent and you are thinking about making an adoption plan for your child, the Social Services Agency’s Adoption Program can help you.

If you are under 18, parental permission is NOT required for you to receive services dealing with adoption.

The Social Services Agency’s Adoption Program provides a range of services to support you in your planning process:

  • Free individual and family adoption counseling from culturally sensitive professional social workers to assist you in making the best choice for you and your child.
  • Referrals to health and social service agencies for medical and financial assistance whether you decide on a plan of adoption or choose to keep your child.

If you are unsure about your decision, you can receive counseling to help you with your decision. You can also agree to place your child temporarily while you decide, or the child can remain with you.

If you wish, you may provide input in the selection of the adoptive family for your child. Input can be given on families that the Agency has already approved for adoption.

Services provided by the social Services Agency’s Adoption Program are Confidential. If you would like more information, or to speak with an adoption social worker, please call (408) 501-6301.

Thank you for your support and assistance during a difficult time in our lives. We truly feel as though we made the best plan for our daughter.
